I had to go to hell aka Walmart Friday night. I was out of dry cat food, and if any of you have cats, then you know they will NOT go ignored if there is no food. It doesnt matter if they are hungry or not. It is the mere fact that they have the authority to demand that food be put there. Ok, so anyway. I was walking across the parking and guess who I spotted. Remember "him"? I dont think my heart has ever beat so fast! I was literally scared. Thank goodness I was not all dressed up in work clothes this time, I had on jeans and tshirt. He was standing there making a scene yelling at his daughter. I was unsure if he was leaving or coming in. As I entered the foyer area of the store, I went back around and peeked out a side door. He was leaving. Thankfully! My heart was still pounding out of my chest. At least I know what he drives now. I dont think I will go to that hell aka Walmart again.

Blah, blah, blah
Home all Friday night, no kid, no action.
Home all last Sunday, 3-10pm, no kid, no action.
I give up.
Before I go to bed I do a Suduko puzzle lying in bed.
(Sidenote to Woodrow: If you are reading this, I know you think these puzzles are lame. Sorry. I hang my head in shame. I didnt have enough nerve to admit to doing them when you posted about them on your blog.)
The other day a girl at work was doing one and I commented that she was doing it in PEN. She said, and I quote, "Yeah, only punks do them in pencil."
(I use pencil.)
I raked my driveway full of obnoxious pineneedles again today. I bought some trashbags that look like jack o'lanterns, so when I stuffed them, I placed them around my yard for decorations. They look really cute. And I have a scarecrow flag. I am hoping to get a pumkin and a bale of hay to put out. I might take some pics and post them.
Cleans sheets are waiting to be put on the bed.
Good night.

Raw and Uncut
I have the house to myself ALL day!!! I am soooo excited!
Well. I was. Seriously, I had this post all planned out in my head. I was going to talk about all the things I was going to do today. As I sat down to write this, I started playing "Broken". Now I am a little sad.
I love this song. Still.
"Im begging you please girl, Im sorry I let you down..."
I wanna dance. Slow.
"your breath is so sweet, your kisses could get me high..."
I need to be held. Tight.
"Im broken like a promise, shattered like a dream..."
I haven’t thought about that in a long time.
"Girl what about you? What about you girl?"

Deer / Dear Season
A national holiday is soon approaching us here in the Southern parts of the US. I have already started seeing signs. It is known as deer season. Men are preparing for weeks of vacation time. Some schools even let out for a day so that the younger males can accompany the older, more learned tribal leaders, into the woods to learn the customs and rituals known as “Deer Camp.” I have noticed four wheelers in the back of almost every red-blooded male’s truck. A friend of mine called me the other day to tell me about his new four-wheeler and even later emailed me pictures. The machinery is treated like a new member of the family. Of course when the men head off to the deer woods, we women all flock to the malls to spend their money! Or there are some men that don’t deer hunt, but they do 'dear' hunt while the other husbands and boyfriends are away. ;-) lol

Today
Cutting up and Laughing
It’s a rainy, dreary day. We are slow at work. We were just all laughing and cutting up. I looked up and one of the guys was smiling and staring at me. I think I blushed. "S" ("Too Much" post on 10/19) used to look at me like that. I would be cutting up, laughing and he would email me a :) . I love it when you catch a guy looking at you. Probably didnt mean a thing, but it sure can boost the ego! lol
That'll Teach Me!
Did anyone happen to get the license plate number of that bus? Man! I feel like I have just been flat smooth ran over! I was making fun of a friend yesterday because he was telling me how his family had been and is sick with colds. I laughed and told him that he was going to be next.
Well Karma heard me, because she smacked me upset the head. I am getting sick now. I was in bed by 8pm and asleep by 8:01pm last night. Whoever is standing on my back, please remove your foot. My lower back is killing me.
Thank goodness game #4 of the World Series was rained out or I would have missed seeing the Cardinals whoop up on the Tigers. This time of year kind of makes me sad, baseball will soon be over and then football season wont be far behind. I love baseball and football and when they aren’t on the weekends, there is nothing to watch. I was telling a friend of mine this yesterday and he said that basketball season would be starting soon. Yeah? So what? That is why I get even sadder. I hate basketball!

Two months...
...from today is Christmas!!!
Yep. Only two months.
How many shopping days is that?
More importantly, how many PAYCHECKS is that?!?!
I can’t believe it. Has anyone started their shopping or even have any ideas about what they are going to purchase? I am having a hard time with my daughter. Preteen is a tough age. They don’t want the cheap stuff anymore and I am not talking about cheap made, I am talking about cheap cost! Her list consists of an iPod w/ case, a tv/dvd player for her room and Ugg boots. Hey! Those boots are from Australia. www.uggaustralia.com Joe? Can you get me a deal? Lol Just kidding. Even it was cheaper to buy them there directly, I am sure the cost would come at shipping them to me in the States huh? What happened to the days of buying her a Barbie and some dollar store makeup and that being good?
I always have to make a list of what it is that I am wanting / needing for Christmas so that my hubby and daughter can run out the week before and try and scrounge it up. That is why I have learned if there is something that I really want, I might as well just buy it for myself.
I am a very practical person. I bet you couldn’t have guess that huh? Lol Yeah, whatever. :-P I would MUCH rather get someone something that they needed for Christmas than just blowing my money on something just in order to ‘say’ I gave them a gift. Do you know what my favorite gift for Christmas was? It was over 10 years ago. My dad had just got remarried, my grandparents (his parents) had both been very ill and in the hospital, my grandfather had just passed just a few months prior and my dad was with out a job. My dad is an only child, so he had had to quit his job in order to care for my grandparents. Needless to say, money was tight, which is usual for any working family, but much more so that year it seemed.
I can remember we all met at my sister’s for a family get-together. My family is a “mixed” family due to divorces and remarriages. If you have never experienced a holiday with a family like that, you are lucky. Then add my husband’s mixed family and we have “family” Christmases every weekend of the month in December and sometimes even in to the New Year. But we had all got together for a dinner. When I walked in I noticed that there were platters of homemade cookies, candies, etc sitting out. My dad walked up to me, picked up a tray with all kinds of goodies on it and handed it to me and said, “Funds were limited this year, but me and (insert stepmom’s name) made you some Christmas candy and cookies.” THAT was the best Christmas I have ever got. Right now, I could not tell you for sure what I got last year for Christmas, but I can still clearly see that platter of goodies in my head.

Far Away
“Music expresses that which cannot be put into words and cannot remain silent” ~ Victor Hugo
There is one thing that my friend brought into my life that I had never been able to express with anyone else before and that was music. I have always loved music. I love the stories that songs tell, the emotions that they bring or the memories that they unearth in your mind and in your heart.
Sometimes an old song will come on the radio and I am transported back in time to my first "parking" experience in high school when I really thought he was just a bad driver and truly was just looking for a place to "turn around." Or I can hear some old country, "Willie, Waylon and the boys", and I am transported back to the living room of the house I grew up in where my dad would play albums.
I had always dreamed of listening to and sharing music with someone. Like being able to use music to carry on a conversation between the two of you with out ever having to mutter a word. We could do this. There were many times when an email would consist of nothing but lyrics to a song.
One of the first songs we ever shared was "Far Away" by Nickelback. I bought the CD and fell in love with this group. I even went to their concert a couple of months ago. I called my friend during the concert so that I could feel him there with me and share it with him. That concert, that moment, is one I can still see in mind as clear as if I was there today. But that moment is a bittersweet memory now.

Music and My Heart
I answered the phone at work today and while the customer was talking, I could hear "Wonderful Tonight" by Eric Clapton playing in the background. I love that song. I have imagined making love while that song is playing. Someone once burned and sent me a CD with that song on it. I miss that someone.

The one I dream of...
"Find a guy who calls you beautiful instead of hot,
who calls you back when you hang up on him,
who will lie under the stars and listen to your heartbeat,
or will stay awake just to watch you sleep...
wait for the boy who kisses your forehead,
who wants to show you off to the world when you are in sweats,
who holds your hand in front of his friends,
who thinks you're just as pretty without makeup on.
One who is constantly reminding you of how much he cares and how lucky he is to have you....
The one who turns to his friends and says, 'that's her.'”

Some History
Joe, www.amalemind.blogspot.com , is not from the US. He recently commented, "Halloween, never understood what it's about. Saw the movies, but why is it there,, what is it about?" So...being the considerate person that I am, dug up some info for him. I have some more to post on this subject, but I didnt want to make it too long for your reading pleasure.
Now today's Halloween isn't the same as it was 2000 years ago. The history and origin of Halloween lie way back in centuries in the ancient Celtic New Year's festival, Samhain. So much so that the customs of today’s Halloween are also rooted in the ancient customs of the Celts during Samhain, which was said to mark the end of Summer. Samhain, the Celtic New Year was celebrated every year on October 31—the day, which the Celts believed, was a day of the rise of the dead, when the deceased would wander the land to possess earthly souls. To keep these spirits at bay, the Celts dressed up as ghouls and monsters and put out all lights in their homes. With that, they ventured out as mischievous and wayward undoers willfully wantoning peace and property. The Celtic priests or Druids also built bonfires on this day and offered sacrifices. The idea behind all these was, of course, to scare away the spirits of the dead and avoid being “possessed” ! Now if you're brainy enough, it won't be hard for you to guess that the modern tradition of wearing costumes on Halloween traces back to this ancient Celtic practice!
The sinister attitudes of the Celts on Samhain toned down over the ages to give way to the less menacing attributes of today’s Halloween. The playfulness and fun side of Halloween was first brought to America by the Irish immigrants around 1840. Like for instance, the popular tradition of trick-or-treating on Halloween came from the Irish. This had been 'gifted' to the United States by the Irish immigrants who fled their country during the potato famine. The Irish celebration of Halloween or the Hallow E'en (evening of the Hallow), as it's called in Ireland, means All Hallows Eve, or the night before the 'All Hallows'. All Hallows Day is on November 1, and is also known as All Saint’s Day (a day to honor all the Catholic saints). ‘Hallow’ is an Old English word, meaning ‘saint’. November 2 is the All Soul’s Day—a day which honors all Christians who no longer live and were not saints. And the period of October 31 to November 2 is known as the Hallow Tide. Now, on All Hallows Eve or Halloween, the Irish beggars went asking for food or money from the rich. If refused, they were threatened to be destroyed by the evil spirits. And, of course, nobody wants to take a chance on Halloween. So soul-cakes or currant buns and candy bags chockablock with goodies were kept ready for the Halloween Day.
Some even say that trick-or-treating sprang up in the Middle Ages and was called ‘souling’. On All Soul’s Day (November 2), Christians used to go begging from door to door for soul-cakes or the currant buns. In return, they prayed for the souls of the dead ancestors of the family who obliged. However, the term trick-or-treat gained popularity only as late as the late 1930s in the context of Halloween.
The very popular Jack O’ Lantern of today’s Halloween also has their origins in Ireland. As the legend goes, a notorious con-man named Jack once fooled Satan on climbing a tree and consequently trapped him by carving a cross in that tree trunk. He then extorted the Devil into agreeing never to tempt him again as a deal for getting him down. But, later when Jack died, not only were the doors of heaven closed to him because of his wrongdoings, Satan also denied him entry at hell due to the trickery Jack inflicted on him. However, Satan gave him a glowing ember or coal to light his way through earth. Jack put the glowing ember into a hollowed-out turnip and walked the land endlessly. This came to be known as the “Jack of the lantern” or Jack O' Lantern. Later, when this concept reached America, the turnip was replaced by pumpkins. Today, both on Samhain and Halloween, Jack O' Lanterns are placed on the front steps of houses to scare away the ghosts. Quite a blazing thrill, isn’t it ?
Well when Halloween is in, black cats will often cross your way or jump right before you from nowhere or give out a spine-chilling whine rending the silence of the night. Now Halloween may be a feline favorite, given the number of black cats you’ll spot during the Halloween days; but this association of black cats with the Halloween festival has its origin in the ancient Celtic beliefs. The Celts believed that the spirits of the dead shacked in animals (which were mostly black cats) during Samhain and Halloween. And therefore, people avoided meeting black cats on the way as it was believed to bring tough luck. Some even held the view that witches disguised as black cats and went about casting spells on Halloween night. However, black cats were convincingly considered faithful followers of witches at all times and have thus assumed an ominous role over the ages till date.
Halloween is an occasion to go wild and whacky, fun and freaky, to do crazy things, play pranks and get away with it. It’s an excuse to behave like a kid without having raised a brow ! Halloween is thus as much an adult’s favorite as it’s in rage with the kids. Nevertheless, there had been forces in history, and there still are, which try to abate the crazier and unrestrained aspects of Halloween. Not quite untrue that Halloween celebrations go over the top at times and fail to be in good taste and sense. Therefore, in some way, it calls forth the need to hold back the reins and keep it within limits. The fun and frenzy is acceptable as long as it stays within sensible bounds and does not cause hurt to anyone or anything.

Not a lot to say
Ballgame last night was freezing. I LOVED IT! The company could have been better. Hubby sits there like a lump a log, as someone put it, felt like I was talking to a brick wall. Looking up in the stands for him when I got there, saw him, no reaction. I asked him later what was wrong. He said he was cold! Well so was I. Geesh! Laugh, talk, cuddle, something! He's the man, he is supposed to keep me warm! We lost. But it was fun. I hope we win tonight's game. This is the high school team playing tonight.
Got home, watched Survivor. It was okay. Then watched Grey's. It was good. Then I watched the Cardinal / Mets' game. It was great! The Cardinals are going to the World Series! Again! Please God, dont let this be a repeat of 2004!
Sorry guys, I am kind of in a pissed off mood right now, and no that doesnt mean "drunk", I am mad, upset.

Attitude
There once was a woman who woke up one morning, looked in the mirror and noticed she had only three hairs on her head.
"Well," she said, "I think I'll braid my hair today?"
So she did and she had a wonderful day.
The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and saw that she had only two hairs on her head.
"H-M-M," she said, "I think I'll part my hair down the middle today?"
So she did and she had a grand day.
The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and noticed that she had only one hair on her head.
"Well," she said, "today I'm going to wear my hair in a pony tail."
So she did and she had a fun, fun day.
The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and noticed that there wasn't a single hair on her head.
"YEA!" she exclaimed, "I don't have to fix my hair today!"
Attitude is everything.
Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
Live simply,
Love generously,
Care deeply,
Speak kindly.

Too much
Yow! Remember how I was complaining about the weather yesterday? Well guess what? The temperature has dropped 25 degrees than it was yesterday! I love it! I bought a new scarf and gloves this past weekend, now I may be able to wear soon. Football weather is finally here. I love going to a football game when it is cold outside. I love bundling up in coats, wrapping up in blankets and drinking hot chocolate! I guess that’s good since I am going to two gamesin the next two nights huh? My daughter is a cheerleader and tonight she has a game. Then tomorrow night she performs at a pre-game ceremony before the high school game.
It's homecoming week at my daughter's school. They have had a different “theme” every day: costume day, PJ day, Toga day and school color day. (They didn’t have school one day this week.) I never knew it was possible to spend so much money on “crap” for a kid to wear to school for just one week. Of course this is why she told me earlier in the week that her “life was over!” It was because I wouldn’t comply and take her shopping when she wanted to with the rest of her friends. Oh the drama of the teenage years. Well, guess what? She lived. Now the costume that she was dying for is waded up in a ball in the corner of her bedroom. I am sure the dog or the cat will make a bed out of it soon. The cat was already starting to eat the wig that she wore.
Wow, I have a football game tonight, Survivor and Grey’s Anatomy is on, plus the Cardinal’s game! Oh no! I almost forgot! There is a group of coworkers getting together after work for "going away" drinks for a co-worker. Last time we did that I had a hangover the next day, but it was at least on a Friday night that time. That was when "S" left. I miss having him at work! lol He and I had a little flirtation. At his going away party, we were all sitting at a long table, like a long booth. I was sitting by him and he put his arm around the back of the bench and started rubbing my back where no one else could see of course. He and I stayed and talked after every one else left. He walked me to my car and gave me a hug and that was it. Later he emailed me and commented that he hoped he had shown what kind of gentleman he was that night.
Crap. I go from having nothing to do to having it ALL happen on one night. Thats pretty sad when I say something to do and I mean watching tv shows huh? I hate it when there is so much to do in one night! At least I can wear jeans to work, so I know I wont be stuck ironing tonight too. Well maybe, because I must confess…I iron my jeans too. Just a little! No heavy crease or anything, but I cant stand wrinkly clothes. Unless of course they are that way from being waded up and tossed on the bedroom floor instigated from a moment of pure passion! ;-)
Hmmm…lets see…. what “team” shirt will I wear tomorrow. I have an OU fleece pullover that a friend of mine from Oklahoma got me for Christmas a few years ago. Maybe I will wear that. It sounds nice a warm. Who does OU play this weekend? Or I have a lovely long sleeve orange Texas tshirt. LOL

Don't try this at home
Hey...you know what is dumber that walking on traintracks at night?
Walking on traintracks at night with headphones on.
Yep, a girl was killed here last night because of that. Sometimes I wonder what people are thinking, but then again, that's the problem...they dont!
Explain how it can be cold enough last week to turn the heat on in the house, but yet today it is almost 90 degrees?!?!
The Cardinals won last night. So they are playing again tonight, gotta go get more beer. The only thing about beer is it makes me feel so bloated. yuck.

Halloween Humor
An old couple who hadn't celebrated Halloween in a long time decided to dress up and go out.
The old woman went into the bedroom,
stripped naked and tied a lemon between her legs.
When she came out, the old man cried,
"You can't go out like that!"
She said, "I can go anyway I like and so can you."
Whereupon he retired to the bedroom and
came out stark raving naked
with a potato tied to his tallywhacker.
The old woman says, "You're going out like that?"
And he replies,
"Yep, if you can go as a sour-puss, I can go as a dick-tator.

One Month
It was one month ago that I made my first post. Blogging was a whole new world to me. Since then I have posted every day, at least once. And now? I cant think of one thing to say.
I saw on the news where there was an earthquake in New Zealand today. I am wondering / hoping that Joie is ok.
After work I am going to get some beer and go home and watch the baseball game that was postponed due to rain last night. Go Cardinals! A friend and I talked about going to a Cardinals game together once.
Why do we remember the things that we do? I have a very good memory. I have been told this. It is part of my personality, because I pay very close attention to details. Sometimes though I wish I didnt remember the things that I do. It hurts sometimes to have memories that you cherish with someone, only to have that person not remember. Makes you feel foolish. Sometimes a sharp memory brings pain. Maybe I should start drinking more. Woodrow? Meet ya for lunch? lol

Can I hold your hand?
Did anyone else see the Today Show this morning? They were talking about how holding hands is good for you! They were saying that holding hands is more intimate than kissing! That kissing is usually sexual, but hand holding is a visible sign to the world that you are in a relationship and are willing to protect that person. Now I remember why I like to hold hands. Have you ever held hands with someone and it was cold and stoic? I have. I can’t stand that feeling. Feels like you are holding a dead person’s hand. And I guess in a way it is death. Death of that relationship, death of the feelings that once lived. So when you hold hands with someone you love, mean it! :-)

Reason, Season or Lifetime?
I received this in a email from a friend. It was too good to not pass along.
People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime. When you know which one it is, you will know what to do for that person.
When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away. Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.
Some people come into your life for a SEASON, because your turn has come to share, grow or learn. They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh. They may teach you something you have never done. They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy. Believe it, it is real. But only for a season.
LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons, things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation. Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life. It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.
Thank you for being a part of my life,
whether you were a reason, a season or a lifetime.
