I had to go to hell aka Walmart Friday night. I was out of dry cat food, and if any of you have cats, then you know they will NOT go ignored if there is no food. It doesnt matter if they are hungry or not. It is the mere fact that they have the authority to demand that food be put there. Ok, so anyway. I was walking across the parking and guess who I spotted. Remember "him"? I dont think my heart has ever beat so fast! I was literally scared. Thank goodness I was not all dressed up in work clothes this time, I had on jeans and tshirt. He was standing there making a scene yelling at his daughter. I was unsure if he was leaving or coming in. As I entered the foyer area of the store, I went back around and peeked out a side door. He was leaving. Thankfully! My heart was still pounding out of my chest. At least I know what he drives now. I dont think I will go to that hell aka Walmart again.

Blah, blah, blah
Home all Friday night, no kid, no action.
Home all last Sunday, 3-10pm, no kid, no action.
I give up.
Before I go to bed I do a Suduko puzzle lying in bed.
(Sidenote to Woodrow: If you are reading this, I know you think these puzzles are lame. Sorry. I hang my head in shame. I didnt have enough nerve to admit to doing them when you posted about them on your blog.)
The other day a girl at work was doing one and I commented that she was doing it in PEN. She said, and I quote, "Yeah, only punks do them in pencil."
(I use pencil.)
I raked my driveway full of obnoxious pineneedles again today. I bought some trashbags that look like jack o'lanterns, so when I stuffed them, I placed them around my yard for decorations. They look really cute. And I have a scarecrow flag. I am hoping to get a pumkin and a bale of hay to put out. I might take some pics and post them.
Cleans sheets are waiting to be put on the bed.
Good night.

Raw and Uncut
I have the house to myself ALL day!!! I am soooo excited!
Well. I was. Seriously, I had this post all planned out in my head. I was going to talk about all the things I was going to do today. As I sat down to write this, I started playing "Broken". Now I am a little sad.
I love this song. Still.
"Im begging you please girl, Im sorry I let you down..."
I wanna dance. Slow.
"your breath is so sweet, your kisses could get me high..."
I need to be held. Tight.
"Im broken like a promise, shattered like a dream..."
I haven’t thought about that in a long time.
"Girl what about you? What about you girl?"

Deer / Dear Season
A national holiday is soon approaching us here in the Southern parts of the US. I have already started seeing signs. It is known as deer season. Men are preparing for weeks of vacation time. Some schools even let out for a day so that the younger males can accompany the older, more learned tribal leaders, into the woods to learn the customs and rituals known as “Deer Camp.” I have noticed four wheelers in the back of almost every red-blooded male’s truck. A friend of mine called me the other day to tell me about his new four-wheeler and even later emailed me pictures. The machinery is treated like a new member of the family. Of course when the men head off to the deer woods, we women all flock to the malls to spend their money! Or there are some men that don’t deer hunt, but they do 'dear' hunt while the other husbands and boyfriends are away. ;-) lol

Today
Cutting up and Laughing
It’s a rainy, dreary day. We are slow at work. We were just all laughing and cutting up. I looked up and one of the guys was smiling and staring at me. I think I blushed. "S" ("Too Much" post on 10/19) used to look at me like that. I would be cutting up, laughing and he would email me a :) . I love it when you catch a guy looking at you. Probably didnt mean a thing, but it sure can boost the ego! lol
That'll Teach Me!
Did anyone happen to get the license plate number of that bus? Man! I feel like I have just been flat smooth ran over! I was making fun of a friend yesterday because he was telling me how his family had been and is sick with colds. I laughed and told him that he was going to be next.
Well Karma heard me, because she smacked me upset the head. I am getting sick now. I was in bed by 8pm and asleep by 8:01pm last night. Whoever is standing on my back, please remove your foot. My lower back is killing me.
Thank goodness game #4 of the World Series was rained out or I would have missed seeing the Cardinals whoop up on the Tigers. This time of year kind of makes me sad, baseball will soon be over and then football season wont be far behind. I love baseball and football and when they aren’t on the weekends, there is nothing to watch. I was telling a friend of mine this yesterday and he said that basketball season would be starting soon. Yeah? So what? That is why I get even sadder. I hate basketball!

Two months...
...from today is Christmas!!!
Yep. Only two months.
How many shopping days is that?
More importantly, how many PAYCHECKS is that?!?!
I can’t believe it. Has anyone started their shopping or even have any ideas about what they are going to purchase? I am having a hard time with my daughter. Preteen is a tough age. They don’t want the cheap stuff anymore and I am not talking about cheap made, I am talking about cheap cost! Her list consists of an iPod w/ case, a tv/dvd player for her room and Ugg boots. Hey! Those boots are from Australia. www.uggaustralia.com Joe? Can you get me a deal? Lol Just kidding. Even it was cheaper to buy them there directly, I am sure the cost would come at shipping them to me in the States huh? What happened to the days of buying her a Barbie and some dollar store makeup and that being good?
I always have to make a list of what it is that I am wanting / needing for Christmas so that my hubby and daughter can run out the week before and try and scrounge it up. That is why I have learned if there is something that I really want, I might as well just buy it for myself.
I am a very practical person. I bet you couldn’t have guess that huh? Lol Yeah, whatever. :-P I would MUCH rather get someone something that they needed for Christmas than just blowing my money on something just in order to ‘say’ I gave them a gift. Do you know what my favorite gift for Christmas was? It was over 10 years ago. My dad had just got remarried, my grandparents (his parents) had both been very ill and in the hospital, my grandfather had just passed just a few months prior and my dad was with out a job. My dad is an only child, so he had had to quit his job in order to care for my grandparents. Needless to say, money was tight, which is usual for any working family, but much more so that year it seemed.
I can remember we all met at my sister’s for a family get-together. My family is a “mixed” family due to divorces and remarriages. If you have never experienced a holiday with a family like that, you are lucky. Then add my husband’s mixed family and we have “family” Christmases every weekend of the month in December and sometimes even in to the New Year. But we had all got together for a dinner. When I walked in I noticed that there were platters of homemade cookies, candies, etc sitting out. My dad walked up to me, picked up a tray with all kinds of goodies on it and handed it to me and said, “Funds were limited this year, but me and (insert stepmom’s name) made you some Christmas candy and cookies.” THAT was the best Christmas I have ever got. Right now, I could not tell you for sure what I got last year for Christmas, but I can still clearly see that platter of goodies in my head.

Far Away
“Music expresses that which cannot be put into words and cannot remain silent” ~ Victor Hugo
There is one thing that my friend brought into my life that I had never been able to express with anyone else before and that was music. I have always loved music. I love the stories that songs tell, the emotions that they bring or the memories that they unearth in your mind and in your heart.
Sometimes an old song will come on the radio and I am transported back in time to my first "parking" experience in high school when I really thought he was just a bad driver and truly was just looking for a place to "turn around." Or I can hear some old country, "Willie, Waylon and the boys", and I am transported back to the living room of the house I grew up in where my dad would play albums.
I had always dreamed of listening to and sharing music with someone. Like being able to use music to carry on a conversation between the two of you with out ever having to mutter a word. We could do this. There were many times when an email would consist of nothing but lyrics to a song.
One of the first songs we ever shared was "Far Away" by Nickelback. I bought the CD and fell in love with this group. I even went to their concert a couple of months ago. I called my friend during the concert so that I could feel him there with me and share it with him. That concert, that moment, is one I can still see in mind as clear as if I was there today. But that moment is a bittersweet memory now.

Music and My Heart
I answered the phone at work today and while the customer was talking, I could hear "Wonderful Tonight" by Eric Clapton playing in the background. I love that song. I have imagined making love while that song is playing. Someone once burned and sent me a CD with that song on it. I miss that someone.

The one I dream of...
"Find a guy who calls you beautiful instead of hot,
who calls you back when you hang up on him,
who will lie under the stars and listen to your heartbeat,
or will stay awake just to watch you sleep...
wait for the boy who kisses your forehead,
who wants to show you off to the world when you are in sweats,
who holds your hand in front of his friends,
who thinks you're just as pretty without makeup on.
One who is constantly reminding you of how much he cares and how lucky he is to have you....
The one who turns to his friends and says, 'that's her.'”

Some History
Joe, www.amalemind.blogspot.com , is not from the US. He recently commented, "Halloween, never understood what it's about. Saw the movies, but why is it there,, what is it about?" So...being the considerate person that I am, dug up some info for him. I have some more to post on this subject, but I didnt want to make it too long for your reading pleasure.
Now today's Halloween isn't the same as it was 2000 years ago. The history and origin of Halloween lie way back in centuries in the ancient Celtic New Year's festival, Samhain. So much so that the customs of today’s Halloween are also rooted in the ancient customs of the Celts during Samhain, which was said to mark the end of Summer. Samhain, the Celtic New Year was celebrated every year on October 31—the day, which the Celts believed, was a day of the rise of the dead, when the deceased would wander the land to possess earthly souls. To keep these spirits at bay, the Celts dressed up as ghouls and monsters and put out all lights in their homes. With that, they ventured out as mischievous and wayward undoers willfully wantoning peace and property. The Celtic priests or Druids also built bonfires on this day and offered sacrifices. The idea behind all these was, of course, to scare away the spirits of the dead and avoid being “possessed” ! Now if you're brainy enough, it won't be hard for you to guess that the modern tradition of wearing costumes on Halloween traces back to this ancient Celtic practice!
The sinister attitudes of the Celts on Samhain toned down over the ages to give way to the less menacing attributes of today’s Halloween. The playfulness and fun side of Halloween was first brought to America by the Irish immigrants around 1840. Like for instance, the popular tradition of trick-or-treating on Halloween came from the Irish. This had been 'gifted' to the United States by the Irish immigrants who fled their country during the potato famine. The Irish celebration of Halloween or the Hallow E'en (evening of the Hallow), as it's called in Ireland, means All Hallows Eve, or the night before the 'All Hallows'. All Hallows Day is on November 1, and is also known as All Saint’s Day (a day to honor all the Catholic saints). ‘Hallow’ is an Old English word, meaning ‘saint’. November 2 is the All Soul’s Day—a day which honors all Christians who no longer live and were not saints. And the period of October 31 to November 2 is known as the Hallow Tide. Now, on All Hallows Eve or Halloween, the Irish beggars went asking for food or money from the rich. If refused, they were threatened to be destroyed by the evil spirits. And, of course, nobody wants to take a chance on Halloween. So soul-cakes or currant buns and candy bags chockablock with goodies were kept ready for the Halloween Day.
Some even say that trick-or-treating sprang up in the Middle Ages and was called ‘souling’. On All Soul’s Day (November 2), Christians used to go begging from door to door for soul-cakes or the currant buns. In return, they prayed for the souls of the dead ancestors of the family who obliged. However, the term trick-or-treat gained popularity only as late as the late 1930s in the context of Halloween.
The very popular Jack O’ Lantern of today’s Halloween also has their origins in Ireland. As the legend goes, a notorious con-man named Jack once fooled Satan on climbing a tree and consequently trapped him by carving a cross in that tree trunk. He then extorted the Devil into agreeing never to tempt him again as a deal for getting him down. But, later when Jack died, not only were the doors of heaven closed to him because of his wrongdoings, Satan also denied him entry at hell due to the trickery Jack inflicted on him. However, Satan gave him a glowing ember or coal to light his way through earth. Jack put the glowing ember into a hollowed-out turnip and walked the land endlessly. This came to be known as the “Jack of the lantern” or Jack O' Lantern. Later, when this concept reached America, the turnip was replaced by pumpkins. Today, both on Samhain and Halloween, Jack O' Lanterns are placed on the front steps of houses to scare away the ghosts. Quite a blazing thrill, isn’t it ?
Well when Halloween is in, black cats will often cross your way or jump right before you from nowhere or give out a spine-chilling whine rending the silence of the night. Now Halloween may be a feline favorite, given the number of black cats you’ll spot during the Halloween days; but this association of black cats with the Halloween festival has its origin in the ancient Celtic beliefs. The Celts believed that the spirits of the dead shacked in animals (which were mostly black cats) during Samhain and Halloween. And therefore, people avoided meeting black cats on the way as it was believed to bring tough luck. Some even held the view that witches disguised as black cats and went about casting spells on Halloween night. However, black cats were convincingly considered faithful followers of witches at all times and have thus assumed an ominous role over the ages till date.
Halloween is an occasion to go wild and whacky, fun and freaky, to do crazy things, play pranks and get away with it. It’s an excuse to behave like a kid without having raised a brow ! Halloween is thus as much an adult’s favorite as it’s in rage with the kids. Nevertheless, there had been forces in history, and there still are, which try to abate the crazier and unrestrained aspects of Halloween. Not quite untrue that Halloween celebrations go over the top at times and fail to be in good taste and sense. Therefore, in some way, it calls forth the need to hold back the reins and keep it within limits. The fun and frenzy is acceptable as long as it stays within sensible bounds and does not cause hurt to anyone or anything.

Not a lot to say
Ballgame last night was freezing. I LOVED IT! The company could have been better. Hubby sits there like a lump a log, as someone put it, felt like I was talking to a brick wall. Looking up in the stands for him when I got there, saw him, no reaction. I asked him later what was wrong. He said he was cold! Well so was I. Geesh! Laugh, talk, cuddle, something! He's the man, he is supposed to keep me warm! We lost. But it was fun. I hope we win tonight's game. This is the high school team playing tonight.
Got home, watched Survivor. It was okay. Then watched Grey's. It was good. Then I watched the Cardinal / Mets' game. It was great! The Cardinals are going to the World Series! Again! Please God, dont let this be a repeat of 2004!
Sorry guys, I am kind of in a pissed off mood right now, and no that doesnt mean "drunk", I am mad, upset.

Attitude
There once was a woman who woke up one morning, looked in the mirror and noticed she had only three hairs on her head.
"Well," she said, "I think I'll braid my hair today?"
So she did and she had a wonderful day.
The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and saw that she had only two hairs on her head.
"H-M-M," she said, "I think I'll part my hair down the middle today?"
So she did and she had a grand day.
The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and noticed that she had only one hair on her head.
"Well," she said, "today I'm going to wear my hair in a pony tail."
So she did and she had a fun, fun day.
The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and noticed that there wasn't a single hair on her head.
"YEA!" she exclaimed, "I don't have to fix my hair today!"
Attitude is everything.
Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
Live simply,
Love generously,
Care deeply,
Speak kindly.

Too much
Yow! Remember how I was complaining about the weather yesterday? Well guess what? The temperature has dropped 25 degrees than it was yesterday! I love it! I bought a new scarf and gloves this past weekend, now I may be able to wear soon. Football weather is finally here. I love going to a football game when it is cold outside. I love bundling up in coats, wrapping up in blankets and drinking hot chocolate! I guess that’s good since I am going to two gamesin the next two nights huh? My daughter is a cheerleader and tonight she has a game. Then tomorrow night she performs at a pre-game ceremony before the high school game.
It's homecoming week at my daughter's school. They have had a different “theme” every day: costume day, PJ day, Toga day and school color day. (They didn’t have school one day this week.) I never knew it was possible to spend so much money on “crap” for a kid to wear to school for just one week. Of course this is why she told me earlier in the week that her “life was over!” It was because I wouldn’t comply and take her shopping when she wanted to with the rest of her friends. Oh the drama of the teenage years. Well, guess what? She lived. Now the costume that she was dying for is waded up in a ball in the corner of her bedroom. I am sure the dog or the cat will make a bed out of it soon. The cat was already starting to eat the wig that she wore.
Wow, I have a football game tonight, Survivor and Grey’s Anatomy is on, plus the Cardinal’s game! Oh no! I almost forgot! There is a group of coworkers getting together after work for "going away" drinks for a co-worker. Last time we did that I had a hangover the next day, but it was at least on a Friday night that time. That was when "S" left. I miss having him at work! lol He and I had a little flirtation. At his going away party, we were all sitting at a long table, like a long booth. I was sitting by him and he put his arm around the back of the bench and started rubbing my back where no one else could see of course. He and I stayed and talked after every one else left. He walked me to my car and gave me a hug and that was it. Later he emailed me and commented that he hoped he had shown what kind of gentleman he was that night.
Crap. I go from having nothing to do to having it ALL happen on one night. Thats pretty sad when I say something to do and I mean watching tv shows huh? I hate it when there is so much to do in one night! At least I can wear jeans to work, so I know I wont be stuck ironing tonight too. Well maybe, because I must confess…I iron my jeans too. Just a little! No heavy crease or anything, but I cant stand wrinkly clothes. Unless of course they are that way from being waded up and tossed on the bedroom floor instigated from a moment of pure passion! ;-)
Hmmm…lets see…. what “team” shirt will I wear tomorrow. I have an OU fleece pullover that a friend of mine from Oklahoma got me for Christmas a few years ago. Maybe I will wear that. It sounds nice a warm. Who does OU play this weekend? Or I have a lovely long sleeve orange Texas tshirt. LOL

Don't try this at home
Hey...you know what is dumber that walking on traintracks at night?
Walking on traintracks at night with headphones on.
Yep, a girl was killed here last night because of that. Sometimes I wonder what people are thinking, but then again, that's the problem...they dont!
Explain how it can be cold enough last week to turn the heat on in the house, but yet today it is almost 90 degrees?!?!
The Cardinals won last night. So they are playing again tonight, gotta go get more beer. The only thing about beer is it makes me feel so bloated. yuck.

Halloween Humor
An old couple who hadn't celebrated Halloween in a long time decided to dress up and go out.
The old woman went into the bedroom,
stripped naked and tied a lemon between her legs.
When she came out, the old man cried,
"You can't go out like that!"
She said, "I can go anyway I like and so can you."
Whereupon he retired to the bedroom and
came out stark raving naked
with a potato tied to his tallywhacker.
The old woman says, "You're going out like that?"
And he replies,
"Yep, if you can go as a sour-puss, I can go as a dick-tator.

One Month
It was one month ago that I made my first post. Blogging was a whole new world to me. Since then I have posted every day, at least once. And now? I cant think of one thing to say.
I saw on the news where there was an earthquake in New Zealand today. I am wondering / hoping that Joie is ok.
After work I am going to get some beer and go home and watch the baseball game that was postponed due to rain last night. Go Cardinals! A friend and I talked about going to a Cardinals game together once.
Why do we remember the things that we do? I have a very good memory. I have been told this. It is part of my personality, because I pay very close attention to details. Sometimes though I wish I didnt remember the things that I do. It hurts sometimes to have memories that you cherish with someone, only to have that person not remember. Makes you feel foolish. Sometimes a sharp memory brings pain. Maybe I should start drinking more. Woodrow? Meet ya for lunch? lol

Can I hold your hand?
Did anyone else see the Today Show this morning? They were talking about how holding hands is good for you! They were saying that holding hands is more intimate than kissing! That kissing is usually sexual, but hand holding is a visible sign to the world that you are in a relationship and are willing to protect that person. Now I remember why I like to hold hands. Have you ever held hands with someone and it was cold and stoic? I have. I can’t stand that feeling. Feels like you are holding a dead person’s hand. And I guess in a way it is death. Death of that relationship, death of the feelings that once lived. So when you hold hands with someone you love, mean it! :-)

Reason, Season or Lifetime?
I received this in a email from a friend. It was too good to not pass along.
People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime. When you know which one it is, you will know what to do for that person.
When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away. Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.
Some people come into your life for a SEASON, because your turn has come to share, grow or learn. They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh. They may teach you something you have never done. They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy. Believe it, it is real. But only for a season.
LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons, things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation. Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life. It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.
Thank you for being a part of my life,
whether you were a reason, a season or a lifetime.

Take Me Away
One of my favorite times, besides the early morning, is when the house is all clean. The floors are swept (hardwood), the dishes are done and put away, everything is dusted, laundry's clean, folded and put away, there is no junk lying around on the kitchen table or the floors (ie school papers, books, backpacks, gym duffle bags). When all is clean and tidy, I love to light candles. I love turning off all the lights and just using the candles for light. I wish I could have more of those times. Lit candles, clean house, cup of coffee and reading a book. Nice dream huh? Time to wake up and get back to the real world.
I was told this week that if I wanted romance, read a book. I should have gone to the bookstore this weekend instead of wasting my time at home.
Some of the things I love about the weekend: jeans, sneakers if I go out or running around with socks on at home, no make-up, unless I go to church (which I didnt today), sports bra, and to be the ultimate geek, I wear my glasses instead of my contacts.
Hey, you know what? I am the world's worst mom. Really! I am. Just ask my daughter. She told me today that she was going to live with grandma (my mom) because I loved the animals (our pets) more than her. Just wait OG, Joe...those sweet little angels that you have now, they grow up. It is on days like today that I wonder why I wished for a girl instead of a boy. lol
I am going nuts trying to figure out how to add blogs to my sidebar. I got a name to appear, but when I would click on it, it would say that it couldnt find the URL. I am a computer dummy. Dont you love it when you figure out how to do something?!? I did it! I figured it out! I am so proud of myself. I am trying to it, but dang, that takes some time to add doesnt it?? I didnt ask anyone's "permission", so if you dont want me to put your blog up there, I will take it down if you want me to.

Still
I still hate Saturdays.
I still hate them for the same reason I did a month ago.
Too much damn time.
Especially home alone.
I used to love time alone.
from "Run" by Snow Patrol:
"To think I might not see those eyes
Makes it so hard not to cry
And as we say our long goodbye
I nearly do"
I am sorry I am down today. I dont know why. Well, yeah I do. I got my feelings hurt. Feelings I should have known better than to reveal. Its been over a month, you would think I could let it go. And I am. Slowly.

TGIF
Joe asked in a comment if I had a busy day yesterday. No. Not really. I just wasnt really in a mood to post. I was kind of in a bad mood yesterday. I had a headache. I took four aspirin. I know it's probably just a surge of hormones from that "time of the month".
I'm sorry. I wish I had something interesting to say or talk about. I dont. I have a boring, normal life. I dont even have an interesting past to tell about. I am boring. Everything I do or say seems to scream BORING!
Even this morning getting ready for work I came to that realization. I have three basic colors in my closet: black, brown and white. Whoo hoo!!! Seriously though, what other colors do you need? Isnt black supposed to be a sexy color though? I can remember when I was younger my mom couldnt talk me in to ever wearing anything black. I thought it was too seductive and 'old' looking. Now every thing I own is in black it seems.
I got my new Eddie Bauer catalog in the mail. I am going to sit, look, drool, then pout and whine because I cant afford all the things I want.
Ok...I have to ask a really dumb question. I have seen this made mention of on Sleepless and on Joe's blogs, but what does PVD stand for?
I work with a girl who got a divorce earlier this year. Now she is dating a guy. He comes to work to see her all the time. They just sit, smile and talk to each other. Makes me sick. He is always bringing her a milkshake, ice cream or a cappuccino. Yesterday he sent her flowers. I think I am gonna puke. All over her flowers!
It turned really cool here yesterday and got cold last night. We had to turn on the heat last night. I love it when you are lying in bed going to sleep and the heat kicks on. I love that sound. I am asleep in no time.
So you would think that with it being that cool, that fall would on its way. Nope. No such luck. The high temperatures are supposed to be back in the upper 70's this weekend and 80 again by next Tuesday. I hate the back and forth.
I had lunch at Red Lobster yesterday. I had a cup of clam chowder. It was soooo good! I wish I could have another one today! I am hungry. I have no idea what I am going to have. So what did everyone have for lunch today?

Pre School Test

Pre-school children were asked the following question:
"In which direction is the bus pictured above traveling?"
Look carefully at the picture.
Do you know the answer?
The only possible answers are "left" or "right."
Think about it
Still don't know?
Okay, I'll tell you.
The pre-schoolers all answered "left."
When asked, "Why do you think the bus is traveling in the left direction?"
they answered:
"Because you can't see the door."
Feel pretty stupid now?
Me too.

Weirdos and Losers
Last night after work I had to go to hell, aka Walmart. I stopped and got a shopping cart at the front. And no CK, I didn’t see any good looking women with killer smiles, sorry. As I was walking away with my cart, the men’s department is to my left and women’s to the right. I felt someone looking at me. As I looked up, there was a man standing at the edge of the men’s department. He was looking at me and smiling. I smiled back and darted in to the women’s department. I didn’t think much of it. I had stopped to look at a sweatshirt and when I looked back up there he was. He was standing in front of my cart smiling at me. I smiled back. He said, “Oh, I’m sorry, you just looked really familiar, but I guess not.” I smiled and said, “No, I don’t think so. I don’t know you. Sorry.” He just stood there, smiling. So I walked off. Later as I was walking down an aisle in the household products, I look up and who is standing there smiling at me? Yep. Him. I smiled back and darted up an aisle right before the one he was standing in front of. As I made it to the end of the aisle, he was standing there at the end of the aisle he was on. I didn’t stop on the aisle I was going up either, which means he must have walked straight up his aisle with out stopping either. I looked over at him and he said, “I’m John.” I said, “I’m Kris.” He said, “What do you do?” I told him…vaguely and truthfully, naïve me. Then he said, “Are you married?” as he looked down at my left hand. I said, “Yes.” He said, “Lucky guy.” I just smiled and said “Thank you” and walked off. He gave me the chills. After that, it seemed like every aisle I looked down, he was there. Just my luck, seems like my whole life I have only attracted weirdos and old men.
My child is such a "loser". lol No! Not like that! I am referring to the way she loses stuff, sweatshirts, jackets, books, jewelry, etc. We often remark at home that it is a good thing her head is attached or she would lose that too. I know, I know, typical parent remark. But right now we are in the process of trying to locate a lost notebook for school. A notebook, which is part of her grade nonetheless! I was a packrat as a kid and if I happened to lose something, it drove me nuts! I can remember losing a handheld foldout fan that my great grandmother gave me. I remember lying awake at night trying to remember where I left it. I have learned to let go of a lot more things now that I am ‘older’. The only things I seem to lose now are my heart and my temper.

Winter
Wow. I am seriously PMSing today.
I can think of ten million things I want to write about when I am not sitting here. I even jot down notes to myself, but then I sit here and I can’t think of a damn thing. My thoughts aren’t solid. I feel like they are a liquid that has been spilled and flowing all over the place.
This past weekend I was supposed to get my hair trimmed when I took my daughter to get hers cut. But that day when I did my hair, it looked so good! So I decided to not mess with getting it trimmed. Why is that? My hair can look perfect all weekend, then turn to crap during the workweek. Typical.
I have short hair. A friend asked me the other day with winter coming why didn’t I want to let my hair grow out some. Actually winter is one of the times I like having short hair the best. I love walking outside in the cold air. It feels so good on my neck and ears. I love the feel of my leather coat against my neck. I love wrapping a scarf around my neck and then burying my face down in to it to keep it warm.
I love winter. I can’t wait for it to get here. The only problem with winter is my feet are never warm! It doesn’t matter how thick the socks are; my feet are always cold. What is the saying, “cold feet, warm heart”?
This is a “fantasy” that I have:
To be in a cabin in the winter, with a handsome man of course. Lying in front of a fireplace. Making love on the floor under a huge pile of blankets, afterwards, my head on his chest, him running his fingers through my hair, watching the fire. It’s snowing outside. We go outside, kissing and holding each other in the snow, only to come back in and start all over again in front of the fireplace.
I have been snow skiing once. It was my Senior trip in high school. There were 18 of us, 6 girls, 12 guys. I wasn’t really “great” friends with anyone in particular in high school, but I was friends with everyone. I had one really good “guy” friend. His name was David. He looked out for me. I was such a young, naïve thing. David would come to my house almost every day in the summer. He would come over and watch soap operas with me. My boyfriend didn’t like David. It was nothing romantic. Although we did try and go out once. It didn’t work. The summer I went to Europe, David threw me a surprise going away party. David had a swimming pool. It was at his house that I went skinny-dipping for the first time, only to have him sneak over and turn the underwater lights on. Anyway, David made sure that I went on this ski trip. We had a lot of fun. I can still remember getting stoned in the bathroom. I couldn’t ski very well. I have a bad knee. Since high school, I have dislocated it twice. When your kneecap rolls around to the back of your leg, it isn’t pleasant. Too much sex in one day was the culprit the last time it happened, must have been all those positions. Wow, I keep skipping around, that was the first and last time I ever went skiing. But I still love winter and the snow.
Have you ever wished you could hold someone’s hand? Or maybe better yet, have them hold yours. Just sit beside each other, you don’t even have to speak or look at me, just hold my hand. I just want to feel the warmth of your hand wrapped around mine, just to know you are there.

Tell Me Why
Growing up I always worried about what other people thought of me. Will they like me? Will they make fun of me? I look back and wish I could have adopted an “I don’t give a shit attitude” younger in life. Always being the “nice one” or the “funny one” is a hard thing to live up to. Last week at work, I spouted something off. I was mad. Later, some of the girls I work with asked me about it. I laughed and apologized. They just laughed and said, “Well we wondered because you are always laughing and in such a good mood. It wasn’t like you at all.” I just smiled. Great. It’s hard to be happy all the time.
I seem to be ready a lot of English blogs, Ordinary Girl, Me, Sleepless and then Joie in New Zealand and Joe in Australia. I have loved reading their blogs and finding new “words”. Take “bully wank” for example or “snog” for another. I had no idea what those meant. Joe explained “bully wank” to me. I think that “snog” means to make out, is that correct? So my question is, are there any American terms that you have heard used that you don’t know what it means? (lol spell check didn’t even recognize “wank” and “snog”)
I don’t like Halloween. I think it’s dumb. I hate dressing up in costumes. Even as a child I didn’t like it. Now I like the candy. Great. Seriously, you all wont believe is! I had just sat here and typed that one sentence, then I went to the breakroom to get a cup of coffee. When I get back to my office, there is a bucket of Halloween goodies on my desk. There is a note inside. It says: “You Have Been BOO’D!” Now I have 24 hours to make two baskets and deliever them to two of my co-workers. Great. I just wanted to go home after work, not shopping for Halloween 'goodies'.

A Night Alone
I had the candles lit and positioned around the bathroom. I had the bathtub as full as it could possibly get without overflowing. I undressed and slowly immersed my body into the water. Inch by inch I could feel the water covering my body. The water was a perfect temperature. From the dim candlelight, I could see the steam rising off the water. I knew that my skin was turning a soft shade of pink from the tingling sting of the hot water. I took a sip of my wine. It was so cool and went down so easily. I took a few sips and placed it carefully back on the edge of the tub. I could see the perspiration on the chilled glass as it sat along side the steaming tub. I was so relaxed being at home alone. The whole house was quiet. I closed my eyes and leaned back just as my head came to rest on the back of the bathtub. I lay there for a few minutes, relaxing, feeling the water warm touching every inch of my body. As I slowly opened my eyes to reach for my wineglass again, something caught my attention out of the corner of my eye. I was startled. I gasped. I just thought I was alone. How long had he been sitting there quietly watching me in the dark? Had he been sitting there watching me the whole time? I smiled at him and told him how much I loved having him there with me. I kind of blushed knowing that he had been watching me. He always has a way of making me feel so loved and not so alone. Arent pets wonderful?

Plans
It was four weeks ago yesterday, around 8am. I was sitting here in this exact chair, doing what I am doing right now. I heard a loud engine coming from outside on the street. I thought, "What is that? Its not garbage day. Its a Saturday." I went to the window. I see a firetruck parked out in the street. I see my neighbor directly across the street talking on her cell phone. Pacing. Then the paramedics pull her husband from the passenger side of the van and place him on the ground. He is limp. Pale. Lifeless. Immediately they start doing CPR. Tears came to my eyes. Soon the ambulance came. They were still working on him. They loaded him on to the ambulance and pull away, sirens on. I look out after they have all left. One of his shoes is lying in the driveway. He died that morning. Right there in the driveway, across the street from my house. His wife was taking him to get a haircut. They had plans that day.
Last week a mom picked her 6 year old son from school. It was at the elementary campus of the school my kid attended. About two blocks down the road they stopped at Sonic to get an after school treat. She had an aneurysm sitting in the car, slumped over and died right there, a block from my work. She was 41. A friend of mine who is a policeman was one of the first on the scene. He placed the little boy in his policecar. The little boy was so thrilled to be in a 'real' policecar and was asking all kinds of questions. My friend said he got tears in his eyes watching the little boy. That little boy had no idea how his life was changing at that very second. That mom had plans with her son that afternoon.
Be careful with your days. Dont waste them. Most importantly, take care of those that you love and care about. Dont wonder about what people are going to do for you, go do something for those people. In order to be served, you must first learn to serve. Most importantly, dont say things you dont mean, but make sure you say the things you do mean.

Expect Nothing
I have such a problem with myself. I build things up in my mind how I think they 'should' go and then when they dont, I get pissed and I am hurt. Why do I set myself up like that? Expect nothing. That should be my new motto.
Why cant I be like other people and turn my feelings off? Why do I have to feel and care so damn much? People tell me that is one of things they love about me, that I have such a big heart. But you know what a big heart gets you? No, not more love, just more heartache.
What is that thing in that damn movie with Arnold S....crap, I cant think of the name! Anyway, the machines...they dont have feelings. A droid? I dont even know if I am in the same freakin movie. I am not a movie buff. Anyway, that is what I wish I was, a droid. No feelings, no emotions, most importantly , no heartache.
But you know what? The only way someone can break your heart is if you let them. I have no one to blame but myself.

Ditto
Isnt it amazing how a song can take you to a certain place in time or make you think of someone? "Lips of Angel" is on the radio right now. It takes me back to the concert a about a month ago when I heard it live. Then I remember the first time I heard the song. It made me melt.
One of the girls I went to the concert with just came in my office and said, "I just cant work when this song is on."
Ditto.

Quiet Please
Please, no yelling today. I have a headache. I need someone to rub my shoulders and the back of my neck for me. I get a lot of headaches. I think it is the way I sleep most of the time, but I am sure a lot of it is due to stress and staring at a computer screen all day. I am a side sleeper, with one knee bent, the other kind of straight, my booty kind of stuck out to the side. It is funny, my daughter sleeps just like I do. When I go in to wake her up in the mornings I smile. I see myself there all curled up. Anyway, back to my headaches. I think I need a fluffier pillow to keep my head propped up more so that my neck (spine) doesn’t drop down so much.
Hubby is out of town this weekend. My daughter is gone tonight, so mama gets a night at home alone. Gee....I wonder what I will do at home all alone? hmmmm, maybe I can play. ;-) I do know that a nice, hot bath with candles and a bottle of wine sound good. Nothing like seducing yourself, huh? I'm so easy! lol Usually I don’t prepare for playtime, it just ‘happens’. There have been many times when I have been at home alone and I don’t ‘partake' of the opportunity. Of course it feels good, but then sometimes afterwards, my heart hurts. I ache for the warmth of a body on top of mine…fingers interlaced with mine…the warmth of a breath in the crease of my neck...the eyes looking back in to mine. It almost just reminds me of how lonely I feel. I know you are all sitting there thinking, “but she is married!” I am. We have sex. Sometimes. Every now and then. But ‘making love’, I guess that is what I am wanting. I guess I am just an old fashioned kinda gal, I want the heart that goes along with the man.

Bouncing Thoughts
Oh. My. Gosh! Last night I had a strawberry cheesecake shake from Sonic. It was heavenly! Ok, I have to ask this question...Joe? Joie? OG? Do they have Sonics where you live? I am going to say I doubt it, but I thought I would ask. I am infatuated with this whole different country thing. I want to hear more about where ya'll live and how things are different.
Wow, that song that I was asking about a few weeks ago, "Crashing Cars" (thanks Joie!) from Grey's Anatomy is on the radio right now. I hear it all the time now. I guess everyone else liked it too. I actually bought the soundtrack to Grey's (#2) that has this song on it. I bought it and the Tim McGraw CD that I have been wanting . I am still waiting for a CD to arrive in the mail that a friend of mine was supposed to burn for me. You would think that since I didnt even get a card from this friend for my bd that the least he could do is burn this CD for me, right? ;-) I think so too.
I am having the biggest craving for roast beef, potatoes and carrots right now!!! I think I know what I might be cooking this weekend.
I have a problem with a man who doesnt know me from Adam calling me "sunshine" and "babe" on the phone.
Speaking of men...I love a man with a goatee or just a little bit of scruff. Yum! I think that is so damn sexy! I dream of passionately kissing a man that has a goatee! And I have heard that they are good for other things too. ;-)
I have an outside cat. She is a vicious hunter.
The death toll at my house in the past week stands at five:
2 squirrels, 1 rat, 1 mouse, 1 baby snake
And did I mention I live in a city, in a neighborhood, not out in the country. (I wish!) She loves us so much that she brings them as a 'love offering' and places them right on our back step and leaves them for us. Awwww. (Not really) The only one that really bothers me was the snake. Because where there are baby snakes...there is a mama somewhere! I am not necassarily 'afraid' of snakes. Actually we had some as pets growing up, a boa and phython. I held them. But they were in cages. I dont care for the "unexpected" surprise of seeing one outside in my yard.
#48, claification for Joe
To understand #48, you have to refer back to #47 and then #46.
46. I love to cuddle, snuggle, kiss and spoon
47. I think I could do this for hours
48. I would love to try
'Pillow talk' I guess would be a good way to describe what it is that I am trying to refer to. You know taking a day off of work and do nothing, well not 'nothing', but do 'something' all day. Something that didnt require you to get out of bed...or off the floor...or out of the shower...or off the kitchen table...
When
I found this, I liked it and I wanted to share it.
"When you smiled, you had my undivided attention.
When you laughed, you had my urge to laugh with you.
When you cried, you had my urge to hold you.
When you said you loved me, you had my heart forever."

Time
There is nothing like having a teenager. Hormones running amuck! I am surprised I made it to be the age I am as dumb as I am. Don’t believe me? Ask a teenager. I envy all you out there with small children, but don’t worry, your day is coming and then you can remember “This is the kind of day Kris was talking about in her blog all those years ago!” and then maybe, hopefully, a grin will creep across your face as you remember all the fun we had while talking and sharing things here.
My dad had a “sign” that he kept on the refrigerator when we kids were teenagers. It said:“Attention Teenagers! Leave home now, while you still know it all!” I may need to get one those in a few years. Time does have a way of coming back and biting you in the arse. Time must be Karma’s twin brother.
You know sometimes I wonder if I what I think I want from my marriage or a relationship is….hmm….unrealistic? I guess like I said, I just want someone to validate my feelings and return them to me. There are men out there that want to be cuddled with and kissed on, isn’t there? And I don’t just mean sexually, I mean playfully and romantically, away from the bedroom.
Please, please….if anyone is reading this that isn’t married, remember to make that a part of your every day life. Take time for your relationship. Treat it like it is a living thing, feed and nourish it or it will die. In the beginning a relationship is just a seed and it gets planted. Sometimes it is abandoned and dies, sometimes it gets the attention needed and flourishes. That can apply to a romantic relationship or even a friendship. But one person can't sustain it alone, there has to be two people to maintain it.

Girl Power*
I had to go shopping today at lunch, notice I said "had to"...like I need an excuse to go shop! No seriously, I did today. I was trying to find something to purchase for a man's birthday. Halfway through my lunch hour and the women's department, I remembered I wasnt there for ME! gasp! So I wandered lifelessly over the men's department, whereupon I came to a realization: men's stuff is boring. I am so glad I am a girl! And on a side note, I cant wait for it to turn cool, I am so excited about wearing gauchos with boots!!! :-) Whooo hoo!
*I was almost so overcome with feminity that I posted in pink, but I decided to save you all, (what? all three... five of you?) the horror of having to read in that color! lol Your welcome! :-p

Does anyone remember the 80's movie, "About Last Night" with Demi Moore and Rob Lowe? I had the soundtrack on cassette. I would love to find it on CD, but I dont know if they even made a CD back then. This song is from the movie, its by Bob Seger. I love it.

The music should start when you get to the website, so have your volume ready.

Uninspired
Wow...I just didnt have anything in me today. I am empty. Someone needs to give me a topic to write about, like a class assignment or something. Throw some ideas out there. I am game. Inspire me.
Why are we worried about what people will think of us when we write these blogs? I mean hopefully the people that are reading them dont really know us. At least in my case I hope that. Not that I have devulged any real dark, deep secrets, but because I like the idea of having this all to myself.
Its almost time to call it a day and head to the house. Thank goodness. There is nothing to watch on Monday nights, well except for football. And I do like football, but by the time Monday rolls around, I am kinda burned out on it. I think I am burned out on a lot of things.

A little grumpy I am
I woke up grumpy from a nap. That is unusual for me. Especially on a Sunday afternoon. The only thing better on a Sunday afternoon than a nap is sex. I love afternoon sex. Maybe that is why I am grumpy. Maybe I need some afternoon sex. Oh hell, who knows. At this point I dont care. I didnt even sleep good last night. I got up and moved to couch and slept there all night. I dont know why I cant sleep good in a bed, with clean sheets nonetheless, but I can sleep on a couch. But then again, even there, I had to swap from one end of the couch to the other to get comfy. I dont know what it is. I sure wish it would stop though.
I went on a short trip yesterday. I traveled north for an hour. It was a good day to get out and drive. I went to my nephew's birthday party. It was nice to see family. It always feels so good to get a hug from your mom. It is amazing how fast time goes, seems like just yesterday I was making that trip to go to his birth. I was tired when I got home. I did get a short, unexpected phone call last night that made me smile.
Edit: I was just told I was being an 'asshole' :-)
